Background: Marissa has always had a strong curious and adventurous spirit. Even when she was little she’d often go outside and end up playing games in the surrounding forest area and caves nearby. She loved exploring although it often got her into trouble. When she finally turned 10, her parents sent her on a trip to go to Professor Birch to ask for a Pokemon, so that she could learn responsibility as well as have someone to watch after and protect her. On the way there she found a dimly lit bush in the Petalburg Woods. Being the curious person she was she went through it and found a large area hidden from plain sight full of Treeko’s. She knew the Pokemon before her was one of the starters, and the idea of catching one she liked crossed her mind.

As she started wandering through the Treeko paradise she came across one in particular that was being picked on by the others. A blue Treeko (shiny) was being stoned by a few other Treeko’s and was lying on the ground with its hands over its head in a defensive way. Marissa, not knowing why they were treating it that way, picked it up and left with it leaving the other Treeko’s to just stare at her funny. She took the beaten and bruised unusually colored Treeko to the Pokemon Center where Nurse Joy treated it’s injuries. She explained how Pokemon of unusual color are treated as valuable towards trainers, but amongst their own kind they can tend to be shunned for being so different. Marissa, compelled to help the Treeko, decided to help it learn how to defend itself. After a couple days of training with the timid Treeko it stood up to its bullies and brought them down, earning it some respect with its own kind. As Marissa was leaving Treeko ran up to her and requested (in Pokemon talk and body language) to join her as it had grown to like her in the couple days it had known her. Long story short she accepted and that’s how she got her first Pokemon.

She became a trainer in order to travel and see the sights but always felt as if there was something else she’d like to do. She tried being a Pokemon Coordinator and she did pretty well at it but she didn’t really love the occupation. After gathering the Hoenn badges she decided to follow her passion for traveling and see other nations and their selection of Pokemon and natural beauty. It was from Hoenn that she traveled to Johto and immediately fell in love with the Pokeathlon Contests. They were competitive yet a lot of fun and her Pokemon enjoyed training for them. It was around the same time she met Silver after he had an intense battle with Gold. He was in a bad mood but she was still kind to him and found him interesting. She then proceeded to talk (nag/bugging in his eyes) to him and question him about his background history. Although he found her extremely annoying at first she grew on him as they bumped into each other over time and he eventually became nice to her (his version of nice anyways ).

Sorry for all the text again. This is pretty much all her info, or the important stuff anyways. Sorry for the no background on the picture either. I was lazy and thought it looked alright without one. If you notice any similarity to Dark Magician Girl from Yugioh it’s because I was unconsciously thinking of her hair style when I made my original sketch.
